The 2018 FIFA World Cup: Analysis of Argentina v. Nigeria

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are 0-5 in World Cup play against Argentina and have never beaten them on in any other major competition when playing against Lionel Messi. From the FIFA Under 17 World Cup to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Nigeria is yet to beat Messi, and the margin of his victory is always one goal. This video explores this rather unique trend.

Nigeria vs. Iceland - My interview and analysis with Icelandic journalist about their World Cup Group D match. It was fascinating getting an Icelandic perspective of the team's chances in this match, and at the FIFA World Cup in general.

The Value of an Olympic Medal

Training to be an elite athlete is grueling enough. Now, imagine being a 30-year-old mother of two, who’s pregnant with her third child, not only training for the Olympic games, but winning four gold medals, shattering the myth that mothers could not be elite athletes. Meet “The Flying Housewife.” In this edition of our ongoing series, The Olympic Moment, we reflect on how Fanny Blankers Koen of the Netherlands decisively proved that mothers, can also be worthy Olympic Champions.

The Black Pride Salute at the Mexico City Olympics is one of the most iconic images of the 20th Century. While Tommie Smith and Juan Carlos demonstrate visibly, this video is about the third ma on the podium podium that day - Peter Norman, and the role he played in the background to ensure the success of the salute. It also examines the retribution he faced for his role, and the events which unfolded thereafter.

College athletes generate tens of millions of dollars for their respective Universities. So why aren't they getting paid for it? It is no longer enough to equate a college scholarship with the tens of millions of dollars these athletes bring into the school. The concept of amateurism in sports in the era of big time TV and media rights deals, major corporate sponsorships, etc., is a complete non starter. Listen to my Podcast, and I'll share with you "why".

Nadia Comaneci's Perfect 10 - An Imperfect 1.0

The elusive Perfect 10, remains the gold standard for which gymnasts are now measured. At the 1976 Montreal Games, Nadia Comaneci of Romania scored the first ever Perfect 10 in gymnastics. So why wasn't this reflected on th scoreboard? This is the inside story of the first truely "Perfect" gynmnast in Olympic history, and how the scoreboard confused history, though it could not deny it.

TESTIMONIALS

"The Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) is pleased to showcase on our Caribbean Channel, CaribVision, 'The Olympic Moment – by Idy Uyoe'.

These vignettes are interesting and informative and were a great lead in for our terrestrial stations, who also found them useful to engage their viewers on Olympic facts and history.

We encourage further development of such topical programs on matters of general interest, and we look forward to working with Idy Uyoe and his team to showcase these efforts."

Lori Weatherhead - Team Leader

Caribbean Media Corporation

The Nigeria Olympic Committee engaged Idy Uyoe as a Consultant to conduct a Sports Marketing Workshop for our NOC and affiliated National Sport Federations, and we were quite pleased with the results. From the planning phase of the project, to organization and delivery, Idy asked the right questions and was quite thorough in his preparation and approach. We found his content insightful, his delivery engaging and his sport knowledge quite impressive. Idy clearly understood the unique challenges facing our national sport federations when it comes to attracting sponsorships to fund programme initiatives, and his presentation directly addressed these areas of need. Given the positive feedback we received from delegates, coupled with my own interaction with the Consultant, I enthusiastically recommend Idy Uyoe to those seeking a knowledgeable resource in sport marketing, and the Olympic Sport segment in general.

"Many of our MedMedia orthopedic offices and their physicians are regularly treating professional and national sports teams as well as high school, collegiate and Olympic athletes ... The Olympic Moment with Idy Uyoe segments are interesting and engaging stories and that’s what we want to offer our MedMedia viewers."
